Randi Rhodes Newletter for Thursday April 29th 2010

Bill Clinton had some words on immigration last night ( video here). Clinton made the point that if we are to save an aging America , we need to increase immigration.More states are eyeing their own anti-immigration legislation – several of them are tied to the same hate group forces that got their way in Arizona . At the federal level, Senate Dems prepare to take on immigration reform regardless of the GOP’s do-nothing stance. An Arizona sheriff has said that he will not be enforcing the state’s ridiculous anti-immigration law. After all, he’ll be sued if he does and sued if he doesn’t. Another Arizona sheriff came out against this crap before it was even law. And add former Bush Administration Homeland Security Sec. Tom “Color Code” Ridge to the list of nationally known Republicans opposing Arizona’s anti-immigration law.READ MORE & ACCESS PAST SHOW BLOGS

Spill, baby, SpillNOAA now estimates that up to 5,000 barrels of oil (210,000 gallons) could be spilling into the Gulf of Mexico each day - the slick could reach land by Friday evening.

Randi Rhodes Newsletter for Wednesday April 28th 2010

AZ’s new anti-immigration law is steeped in white supremacy connections…
Kris Kobach is claiming victory in Arizona – he helped write the law. Kobach is currently running for Secretary of State in Kansas and he is a lawyer for the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). As chair of the Kansas GOP, Kobach was quite proud of illegally caging voters,
FAIR founder and current board member John Tanton has a long history of hate.
And then there’s Republican State Senator Russell Pearce, the freak that introduced the bill. Before last week, Pearce was known primarily for circulating a neo-Nazi article from the National Alliance (the people that brought you the Turner Diaries) and hanging out with another well-known neo-Nazi, J.T. Ready.
Meanwhile, an ICE audit showed that more than half of Arizona’s businesses had undocumented workers on their payrolls, the state is now asking the feds to help train its law enforcement to enforce the new racial profiling law – good luck with that, Jeb Bush, Karl Rove and Meghan McCain join the join the ranks of Republicans speaking out against the AZ law, Mexico just happens to be Arizona’s #1 trade partner – whoops, and from cutting healthcare to poor children to moving a pro-birther bill through its House, has Arizona’s government simply gone nuts?
Also today, Oklahoma’s government lays claim to your uterus, Goldman Sachs gets both grilled and richer on the same day, and Laura Bush believes that she and GWB were poisoned in Germany.
These stories, your calls, and much more on today’s Randi Rhodes Show!

The Story of Skankles

Here is a Brief Story of 'Skankles' from May 14, 2009

Roy has a Best Friend-a really good friend for many years. He & Roy were Really close for many years. In fact I put him in My & Roy`s Wedding Vows because he was worried that I would come between him & Roy. He would come over Roys house every Monday Night before Roy met me- that is how our weekly LBC Wack Pack Monday Night Dinners came about. We Now have Monday Night Dinners for Roy & His buddies Every Monday -complete with Dinner & Movie.
This guy really has not had many girlfriends. He is a Really good Mid-west Boy who is true blue. This Guy met a Girl & has been seeing her for almost a year now. It is cool that he found a girlfriend. However she has some insecurities. She has been slowly 'Pussy-whipping' Roy`s friend. All of a sudden Roy`s friend has been acting differently when she is around, canceling plans with Roy to do stuff that she wants, He has been not as 'Animated' as usual. We see it all the time- it happens to the best of us, not really a big deal- usually things settle in after a few months. HOWEVER- She is Really uncomfortable with other girls around, especially Playboy girls.....and well- When you are friends with me & Roy, we are friends with Playboy girls- who (sorry to burst any ones bubble...) is just like any other girl.....they just want to hang with cool people & have a good time. They are really good friends of ours that mean a lot to us & will defend to the end- just like any of our friends.
Well this 'Girlfriend' tries to get herself & her boyfriend out of any event or situation that a Playboy girl will be around and if her boyfriend goes out with the guys and accidentally runs into a Playboy Girl, she will get bent out of shape & yell at her boyfriend! She will invite everyone to her events except Roy & I because of our Playboy friends & in fear we might invite or corrupt her guy. We tell her over & over that we were All friends with Playboy Girls way before we knew her & if her man really wanted a Playboy chick it would have happened already!
Anyway- there is A LOT to this story. Mainly made-up drama that she created but she somehow turned some of our friends against us. We had enough, so we talked to these friends & cleared the air, stating that we mean no harm & just want to be able to be friends with everybody & that Playboy or our Neighborhood friends are both important to us & that people are people & that we all should never Judge.Well she didn`t like the fact that we cleared the air, l think she actually liked having people against us so she can go hang with them & feel validated or something. Anyway- all in all- Roy`s friend, as he should-sided with his girl and is no longer friends with Roy. Roy is really sad- he thinks he lost his best friend to a girl that has no remorse in destroying a Life Long Bond!
So much more to tell- but l am exhausted from this stupid drama! I hope that Roy & his best friend get back together and never let a Petty Insecure Woman ever tear them apart again!

Arizona is on the verge of becoming a police state thanks to their new anti-immigration that even Tom Tancredo thinks goes too far. The state is already flat broke and now they stand to lose millions more in due to boycotts and employers concerned about legal immigrant workers being harassed. Add to that the estimated $26 billion Arizona would lose in economic activity if all the undocumented immigrants suddenly disappeared.
One of the many bizarre provisions of the bill allows for citizens to sue law enforcement agencies if they don’t think that the police are being tough enough - should be a field day for fee-hungry lawyers!
Myth busting: whether it’s higher crime or stolen jobs or not paying taxes, what you’ve heard likely bears little resemblance to fact.
By the way, the crazies aren’t confined to Arizona. South Carolina’s Lt. Gov. asserts that if we weren’t so lazy there would be no jobs for immigrants. As expected, Senate Republicans filibustered financial reform to halt last night. Harry Reid at least forced the freaks onto the floor and will continue to hold votes to expose them.
Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs execs are being grilled on Capital Hill today (video below) – investor lawsuits against Goldman have already been filed. 42,000 gallons of oil are spilling into the Gulf each day from the sunken offshore rig.
And, according to Snoops.com, false anti-Obama internet rumors vastly outnumber the anti-Bush rumors, both in volume and lunacy. These stories, your calls, and much more on today’s Randi Rhodes Show!

Randi Rhodes Newsletter for Monday April 26th 2010

Arizona: the punchline that just isn’t that funny anymore. Arizona’s new immigration bill won’t take effect for months (if ever), but it has already thoroughly divided the people. Phoenix’s mayor Phil Gordon comes out hard against the law and hopes the nation can separate the good people of Arizona from their lunatic government. And while the new law screams out loud for the need of federal immigration reform legislation, Republican leadership is already rejecting the idea. Meanwhile, an Arizona militia is recruiting vets with ‘kill records’ (video below), a move cheered by Freepers and neo-Nazis. A gun-toting man with police scanner gear, a car equipped with sirens, rifle scope formulas is detained at same NC airport Obama was flying out of yesterday – he said he wanted to see the president. And two Illinois lawmakers want the National Guard called into the streets of Chicago. On the jobs front, the economy continues to recover, but despite some good news, most of the jobs lost may still be months or years away from returning – perhaps because the unemployment crisis has barely touched the highest earners, while the poorest are reliving the Great Depression. Now is the time for a real public jobs plan!Internal emails show that Goldman Sachs execs were both aware of and thrilled about the housing collapse. Senate Dems are ready to push forward on financial reform, but the GOP plans to continue to block it.Barack Obama eulogized the 29 mine workers killed in West Virginia yesterday. Video: Part 1 Part 2Also today, our soldiers are being warehoused and drugged, Jon Stewart proves to be more of a journalist than Fox & Friends, for Sarah Palin it’s all about the Benjamins, and George W. Bush’s memoir is due out in November; it’ll cost $35, but you can get it now for nearly half-price. Flashback: Bush grabs a quick payday last year as a ‘motivational speaker’ – tickets started at just $4.95 a piece. These stories, your calls, and much more on today’s Randi Rhodes Show.

Randi Rhodes Newsletter for Friday April 23 2010

OMG - I Should just make a separate Blog just to post my Randi Rhodes Newletters - so you don`t have to weed out to find the Blogs I personally write - but in the Meantime -I must spread the Truth here:

It’s Friday, ya bastids!
As the economy collapsed, some SEC regulators were busy downloading porn! And while Obama talked financial reform in NYC bank lobbyists hosted a fundraiser for senate Republicans in DC. Shameless!

On the heals of Donny Deutsch being thrown off the air at MSNBC, New York Magazine wonders if everyone at the cable network is afraid of Olbermann.
VIDEO: The cast of Morning Joe squirms when a guest hints that Olbermann may be the left’s Limbaugh.

FLASHBACK: MSNBC President Phil Griffin’s now infamous “do not publicly criticize our colleagues” memo came on the heels of Joe Scarborough criticizing Olbermann on Twitter.

No funeral for you: Massey Energy tells workers that they can’t have time off to attend services for those who died in the mine explosion. The company is now denying the story, perhaps on the advice of their new politically-connected PR firm. And a former employee that worked at six different Massey mines has detailed their outrageous profits-before-safety practices.

On the lighter side, from their music to their icons like Ron Paul, the Tea Party never fails to entertain!

Arizona’s governor has until tomorrow (Sat) to decide whether to sign or veto that draconian anti-immigration bill. Arizona business does NOT want this bill. Even some big-name conservatives are freaked out by it. Although, as California Republican Rep. Brian Bilbray explains to Chris Matthews, racial profiling can be as easy as spotting the right (or wrong) kind of shoes (video below).

Randi's homework for today: The first Earth Day speech, betting on your homes, South Park's latest controversy, and much more!!!

EARTH DAY FOUNDER GAYLORD NELSON’S FIRST SPEECH IN 1970"Gaylord Nelson spoke on Earth Day eve—April 21, 1970—at the Cooley Auditorium of Milwaukee Technical College. He was coming to the end of a two-week speaking tour and had spoken earlier that day at a United Auto Workers’ convention in Atlantic City, the floor of the Massachusetts Legislature, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison." Article and video here.

THE BUSTED HOMES BEHIND THE BIG BET"The government's civil-fraud allegation against Goldman Sachs Group Inc. centers on a deal the firm crafted so that hedge-fund king John Paulson could bet on a collapse in U.S. housing prices." Full post here.Has 'South Park' Gone Too Far This Time?"This is a show, after all, that once painted God as a gap-toothed rhinoceros-monkey, portrays Satan as a simpering milquetoast and regularly features Jesus as a superhero -- the kind who's not afraid to ignore the peaceful teachings of the Sermon on the Mount to smite his opponents. The show has mocked Jews, Catholics, Mormons, Scientologists and atheists, among (many) others." Click here for more.

Americans have become so incredibly misinformed and the Tea Partiers are but the tip of iceberg (video below). Was Donny Deutsch canned from MSNBC for including Keith Olbermann in an “angry media” montage? It would appear so. How does silencing one another benefit anybody? Trick question – it doesn’t. Watch the “offending” segment Happy Earth Day! See founder Gaylord Nelson’s speech on the eve of the first Earth Day in 1970 here.Meanwhile, Barack Obama talked financial reform today in Wall Street’s backyard. And while there’s some good news today about the housing market, let us not forget the insane greed that caused it to crash in the first place.Yesterday, we told you about the chickens-for-healthcare freak in Nevada that is running to take on Harry Reid. Senate Dems wasted no time in launching a Chickens for Checkups website in response, and Progress Now Nevada opted to take it techno. Also, Perdue is being sued for allegedly knowingly hiring illegal immigrants to drive down wages. A former Massey miner blows the whistle on the company’s profits-before-safety practices. And Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) envisions a Tea Party-inspired “spiritual revival” (video). These stories, your calls, and much more on today’s Randi Rhodes Show!

Arizona has gone nuts! The state’s legislature has passed one of the most draconian anti-immigration bills ever. Phoenix mayor Phil Gordon has called the measure racist and believes that it will be struck down by the courts if the AZ governor signs it.And now, Arizona has doubled down on crazy as its State House goes Birther! One more time for all you freaks that insist Obama was not born in the US: First, there’s the birth certificate (duh). If for some freaky reason that’s not enough, how about the birth announcement in the Aug. 13, 1961 edition of the Honolulu Advertiser? Still insist upon making an ass of yourself? On the financial reform front, while the Dodd bill is a step in the right direction, Robert Reich explains in simple English how this really should be done. Too big to fail = too big to live. Lobbyists swam the Hill to preserve the status quo for their fat cat masters. Even Republicans can’t resist the public outcry over Wall Street and they begin to soften their Just Say No position to reform. What should Obama say tomorrow? And if the Dems are to be the Party of the People, they need to reconcile their donor issues. Read the full blog here...REP. RAUL GRIJALVA ON AZ NEW IMMIGRATION LAW"Reading between the lines on new Arizona law." See the video here.Arizona Doubles Down on Crazy as Its State House Goes Birther."Just a few days after Arizona lawmakers passed an immigration law that will essentially require anyone who is or looks like an immigrant to carry their proof of residency at all times, the Arizona House voted for a provision that would require President Barack Obama to show his birth certificate and prove his own citizenship status." Thankfully, April 19th came and went without violence. No thanks to the “gangster government” freaks. By the way, the gun nuts rallying in Virginia yesterday can thank Obama and his fellow ‘socialists’ in Congress for their right to carry firearms in national parks. Gun laws by stateHappy National Weed Day! California may be better known for their medical marijuana dispensaries, but Denver-Boulder, CO now boasts 350 of them! Click here for the real story of how “420” became forever linked with The Pot. Should marijuana be legalized? Can taxing it help bailout cash-strapped states? CNBC actually has a whole section on the topic.Don’t cry for Goldman Sachs – first quarter earnings: $3.46 billion! As we told you yesterday, the GOP has made the idea of financial reform so partisan, that even the Republicans on the SEC voted to let Goldman off the hook. However, the GOP leadership’s lies about the financial reform bill are so bizarre, even Republican Senator Bob Corker debunked them.Meanwhile, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) gets gay-baited by a Tea Bagger. Obama is heckled by Don’t Ask Don’t Tell opponents. And a group of retired military officers take aim at school lunches as obesity has become the #1 reason new recruits are rejected. Also, just when you thought that no one had a less accurate of a grasp of American history than Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin sounds off on the separation of church and state. Bad news for Boehner – a new study links habitual tanning with addiction. A beached whale in Seattle had a belly full of trash (BTW, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch is now roughly twice the size of Texas and is but one of five massive floating landfills). The Pew Research Center has just released a poll showing that nearly 80% of Americans don’t trust the government. No surprise there, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing – unless, of course, that distrust is woefully misdirected and is becoming increasingly psychotic. From Oklahoma City to Waco to Columbine to Virginia Tech, April has become the cruelest month in America over the last 15 years. This isn’t lost on gun nuts rallying today near DC fully locked and loaded.Yet another look inside of the Tea Party: Politico finds that they tend to fall into two camps: Ron Paul-ers and Sarah Palin-ites.But is everyone making too much of the Tea Party? It’s Tax Day, the freaks are planning the next Civil War, and the lies are too numerous to count!Beginning with taxes, 70 million Americans have no federal income tax liability. Beyond that, the rest of us have the privilege of paying for subsidies for corporations such as ExxonMobil. No surprise there, as armies of corporate lobbyists specialize in getting their clients exactly what they want. Are psychos in Oklahoma planning a new Civil War? And with the resurgence of love for the Confederacy, a basic understanding of our history clearly demonstrates why we (should) have a natural gut-reaction against romanticizing those dark times.Polling the Tea Party… More than 3 out of 4 Tea Party activists get their ‘news’ from Fox, a majority of all Tea Partiers think their income tax rates are fair, but most also believe that blacks get too much attention. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens announced today that he will retire this summer. The good news is that President Obama gets to appoint a new Supreme Court Justice. The not-so-good news is that he can hardly do any better than Justice Stevens. And bad news is that the Republicans aren’t about to let him. Now Republicans in the Senate will have something to block besides unemployment benefits. Between those, a nuclear weapons treaty with Russia, and now a Supreme Court appointment, the Republicans in the Senate have a lot on their “to block” list. Meanwhile, Sarah Palin is trying to go one-on-one with President Obama over nuclear weapons policy. Ironic—Palin going after Obama on a complex issue is kind of like attacking a nuclear-armed nation with rocks and stones. Palin said Obama’s new nuclear policy was the equivalent of a kid in a playground fight saying “Go ahead, punch me in the face and I’m not going to retaliate.” The best part was President Obama’s response to Palin. He said “I really have no response. Because last I checked, Sarah Palin’s not much of an expert on nuclear issues.” I love it! Obama essentially said that responding to Sarah Palin would be like debating nuclear policy with the cast of “The Jersey Shore.” For a look at Sarah Palin’s nuclear expertise, check out what she said during the VP debate in 2008. It’s hard to notice just how rambling Sarah Palin’s response is, because you’re too busy laughing at the way she pronounces “nukular.” What is it with rightwingers and the proper pronunciation of the word “nuclear”? I say you shouldn’t be allowed to have your finger on the button if you can’t get your tongue around the word. Read the full blog…POLITICSREP. FRANK EXPLAINS CAUSE OF HYPER-PARTISANSHIP TO LENO"Rep. REAGAN: THE GREAT AMERICAN SOCIALIST"Socialism has been much in the news for some months. Recently, some GOP stalwarts charged President Obama with preaching the heresy. President Obama has signed a major arms control pact with Russia that will make us all safer... unless you happen to work for Massey Energy. In that case you don’t need a bomb shelter to die under the ground. It turns out that concerns about safety at the Upper Big Branch mine were raised on the very day of the explosion. But then that’s no surprise—it seems that concerns about safety at the Upper Big Branch mine were raised every day. At the time of the explosion a federal mine safety administrator was at the airport in Charleston, WV, on his way from Washington to discuss various Massey violations. From the number of violations, the Mine Safety and Health Administration should have just opened a branch office at Massey headquarters. Over the years Massey has accumulated so many violations that you could probably just burn those for fuel instead of coal. A lot of people in West Virginia are afraid to speak out against Massey. That’s how bad the economy is—people would rather risk their lives than risk their jobs. Massey puts profits ahead of worker safety. Hey, how else are they going to be able to afford to buy a West Virginia Supreme Court Justice? Those things don’t come cheap. It seems there’s more money in buying and selling West Virginia judges than there is in mining West Virginia coal.
If you’re safe from Massey Energy, you’re also safer from nuclear annihilation as of today, thanks to the new arms control pact. Of course now that President Obama is working to avoid nuclear holocaust, the Republicans have to come out in favor of nuclear holocaust. Republicans automatically oppose anything the President approves of. When President Obama pardons the Thanksgiving turkey, are Republicans going to call for its execution? Read the full blog...

Of course we already know, from our own workplace experiences, how the elite professional keeps up a winning streak indefinitely: By being an insufferable control freak, by demanding too much from underlings, by embracing the life of the workaholic, by staying busy at all costs, always assuming that busy-ness can offset any down-tick in importance, fame and/or fortune." Randi Rhodes Daily Newsletter Wednesday, April 7, 2010

Today we pay homage to the American Dream, which has become a little too much like a real dream--the dreams where you can’t seem to move your feet forward. Or worse, those dreams where you’re naked in front of your 5th grade class, except now you’re naked in front of your employer, as we will get to shortly. Here’s an American Dream wake up call: after being adjusted for inflation, real wages for real (nonsupervisory) people peaked way back in 1972. It’s hard to believe you were better off in 1972, especially when you remember what you were wearing. Yes, you were wearing a polyester leisure suit. But you did have more money. I don’t agree with what’s been done to our economy, but I still wouldn’t want to go back to 1972--mostly because I never want to hear “Seasons in the Sun” again. Meanwhile, the rich get richer while the poor get poorer. It’s not that we’re living in different worlds. We’re all living in a world that relatively few of us own. There’s a growing gap between the rich and the poor--and it’s swallowing up the middle class. Or what’s left of the middle class. The poorest ten percent of families actually had a negative net worth---more liabilities than assets. To put that in terms you can understand, I quote Tennessee Ernie Ford--you owe your soul to the company store. And the recent recession has just made things worse. The people running the economy killed the goose that was laying the golden eggs. That’s bad news for them, and worse news for us--we’re the goose! Finally, all this is happening in plain sight... of your boss. Employers can and do monitor internet access, read your email, and eavesdrop on your telephone calls. And there’s nobody you can complain about it to... without your boss finding out. Some judges have even upheld the “right” of employers to install secret monitoring cameras in bathrooms. So your boss knows your every move--even your bowel movements. Just one more reason to always wear fresh underwear. Read the full blog...

Randi Rhodes Daily Newsletter Tuesday April 6 20010

Well, it’s Tuesday, and time for “Republicans Behaving Badly, Oddly, Or Just Plain Disturbingly.” First up: in the wake of the “Bondage Gate” scandal, RNC Chairman Michael Steele is saying that, as an African American, he is given a slimmer margin of error. I’d say you used up that slim margin, Michael. In fact, you’ve used up the slim, medium, husky, and extra-large margins of error. Now, it may be that Steele is in fact given a smaller margin of error. But at this point he’s clearly used up the margin of error that Republicans would give to a black man—or a white man. Hell, he’s used up the margin of error that Republicans would give to Ronald Reagan. And if you recall, that was pretty generous. In related news, Steele chose to take responsibility for Bondage Gate by firing somebody else. RNC Chief of Staff Ken McKay has resigned. Whenever there’s a sex scandal, you don’t want to have a job title like “Chief of Staff.” It should be pointed out that McKay did not get fired, he resigned. But dare I say, I suspect that his hands were tied. Next up: in a Newsweek interview, John McCain says “ I never considered myself a maverick.” Yeesh. Just how long before John McCain starts denying that he’s John McCain? Poor Sarah Palin evidently didn’t get the update. A month ago at a rally for McCain, Sarah Palin used the phrase “McCain the Maverick” four times in a 15-minute speech. John, why did you have to go and switch the “maverick” thing on Sarah Palin? She probably wrote it on her hand. I’m sure if you look there, it says “M-a-v-r-e-k.” But wait, there’s more! Rush Limbaugh has accused President Obama of “character assassination.” Oh? How do you engage in character assassination against a man who has no character? Read the full blog...

Randi Rhodes Newsletter for Friday April 2 2010

Good news (unless you’re a Republican politician). New employment figures for March show that the economy added 162,000 jobs last month. And I assume the March figures include the RNC employee who got fired over the bondage club scandal. Hey, if that RNC staffer hadn’t screwed up, we would have a net gain of 162,001 jobs. In any case, that’s 162,000 people who don’t have to worry if Jim Bunning is going to block their unemployment checks.
48,000 of the new jobs were census worker jobs. If you believe Michelle Bachmann, there must also be a lot of jobs for people setting up those internment camps, but I assume those are off the books. But even without the 48,000 census jobs workers, private employers added 123,000 jobs—jobs that I assume Congresswoman Bachmann has no problem with. It would be difficult for conservatives to say that the census hiring skewed the numbers, because then they’re essentially saying that a government program worked—and it wasn’t even intended to be a jobs program. If you’re looking for a reason jobs figures aren’t even better, the Bureau of Economic Analysis reports that U.S. corporations, reluctant to expand in an uncertain economy, are sitting on $1.6 trillion in cash reserves. Hey, who needs to expand when your bank account is expanding anyway? Companies evidently feel that cash is better than employees. Cash doesn’t ask for health insurance. The CEO’s of these companies should have signs on their desks that say “The recovery stops here.” To go into the weekend on a lighter note, the RNC sent out a mailer this month that accidentally listed a phone sex number as the RNC’s number. Hey, if the RNC actually gave phone sex, it would be an improvement over what they’ve been offering their donors up until now. As it stands, all the RNC offers its little donors is the chance to fund bondage club outings for RNC staffers and the big donors. Read the full blog...

Many Companies Have the Cash to Hire, but Instead are Hording it."The U.S. economy added 162,000 jobslast month while the unemployment rate remained steady at 9.7 percent, the U.S. Labor Department reported this morning, adding evidence that the recovery from the tailspin set off by the economic crisis is well under way." Wall Street Driving up Oil Prices – Again."Oil consumption has fallen, demand from U.S. motorists for gasoline is flat at best and refiners that turn crude into fuel are operating well below capacity. Randi Rhodes Daily Newsletter April 1, 2010
In honor of April Fool’s Day, let’s do a quick roundup of some of the right wing’s current pranks. We only wish that these were jokes. The GOP started a few days early with a brilliant hoax that they could have healthcare reform declared unconstitutional. The problem is finding anyone whom was fooled by that one. The University of Washington held a debate on the constitutionality of healthcare reform—and were unable to find a single credible expert who believes it’s not constitutional. I say that means the debate is over. Hey U of W, why not have the debate mirror reality? Have an expert present the pro-healthcare argument, and then for the other side have a bunch of angry idiots yell about socialism. And now a lot of Republicans are starting to worry that the whole “repeal” strategy may end up being a joke on them. There are only two things wrong with the “repeal” strategy—repeal is a dumb idea, and it’s impossible to pull off. So in a sense they cancel each other out. That would make a nice campaign slogan: “Vote Republican! There’s no way we can actually do the crazy stuff we’re talking about doing!”It’s no laughing matter for those who won’t go along with the joke. Conservative lawmakers in Georgia are trying to impeach the state’s Attorney General because he won’t file a pointless lawsuit to try and block healthcare reform. What are they going to impeach him for? “Willful and deliberate execution of his duties”? Personally, I think the King of Fools should be John Boehner for his reaction to President Obama’s plan to expand offshore oil drilling. Boehner said “the Obama Administration continues to defy the will of the American people” by not drilling EVERYWHERE. NOW! But then Republicans wouldn’t be satisfied if President Obama issued an executive order that literally said “Drill, baby, drill!” Read the full blog...
