Randi Rhodes: Drip Drip

Herman Cain is accusing Rick Perry of orchestrating a smear campaign against him. There’s one way to tell for sure—if it’s a clever smear campaign, it’s not Rick Perry. Essentially, Herman, you can tell whether or not Rick Perry did something by whether or not it’s working. This so-called smear campaign seems to be working remarkably well, so I suspect Rick Perry is not behind it. But then why should anyone else try to destroy Herman Cain’s campaign? Herman Cain seems to be doing a marvelous job of that himself.

OK, I realize it could well have been Rick Perry’s campaign. Rick isn’t very good at debating, but he truly excels at hiring hatchet men. After all, Rick Perry was created by Karl Rove. He’s like Frankenstein’s monster. Heck, with those stiff, Talking Heads suits that he always wears, he even looks and moves like Frankenstein’s monster. Maybe that’s why Rick Perry always has those ridiculously high collars—he’s hiding his neck bolts.

Herman Cain has now blamed the victims, the liberals, the mainstream media, and Rick Perry. Who’s left for him to blame? Was it Colonel Mustard in the library with a candlestick? The bottom line for Herman Cain is that, when the allegations are true, it doesn’t really matter who leaked it. You can trace the source of your troubles back to you. To loosely quote the great Herman Cain, “If you’re looking for someone to blame, don’t blame the media or Perry, blame yourself!”

President Obama has been trying to promote his jobs plan. And Republicans in Congress have been trying to promote anything—anything—except jobs. The Republican House passed a bill reaffirming that “In God We Trust” is the motto of the United States. It’s already the motto. They’re just verifying that… like anybody asked. The House Republicans in the House are re-doing things that didn’t need to be done in the first place. You would think that if they did have trust in God, they wouldn’t be so worried about having to re-verify it. But no, the Republicans have to keep on reaffirming that “In God We Trust” is our motto, like some obsessive-compulsive who has to keep checking to make sure they turned off the coffeemaker.
